Harri Rogers Thought provoking, maybe. But people seem to gloss over the fact that during Obama’s time in office he was fighting against a republican majority in Congress. To even consider any comparison between the man and Hitler is, as I’ve already said, deplorable and shameful.

Harri Rogers
Harri Rogers Obama was fighting against a majority in Congress whereas Hitler was a cruel, vindictive dictator. I simply do not buy into this blog. There aren’t any citations for the things said and there are discrepancies over whether some of things quoted even came from the people he claims they come from. Nah, not for me.

Harri Rogers You can look up the bad points about someone until the cows come home and you will always find shit to sling at someone’s walls, no matter who they are. Obama didn’t have a perfect record, it’s impossible to do so in any government but to suggest links between Obama and Hitler is laughable. On that note, to quote one of the Dragon’s Den panel, “I’m out.” Peace and love boys!

Ashley Drake
Ashley Drake Roger, you stated that Obama was a fascist but Trump wasn’t. However, using your logic if the US state is indeed fascist, then surely Trump is a fascist also. BTW – a statement of opinion and a conspiracy theory are not mutually exclusive.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Ashley that the USA has been fascist for many years does not make Trump a fascist, he may be but he may oppose fascism. Semantically an opinion about a claimed object is not a conspiracy theory, it is a truth claim, a truth claim regarding is the USA a Fascist State is not a conspiracy theory, nor could it ever be one, it is an opinion.
The opinion where speculative would be a hypothesis and the hypothesis may then be tested against certain criteria against which it might be falsified. If we take Roosevelts definition what conclusions might we draw. We could also take Umberto Ecos tests from his famous essay U R Fascism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_fascism
As regards President Obama, I say if the cap fits, that is just my opinion.https://letthemconfectsweeterlies.blogspot.se/…/u-r…

Roger Lewis Ranjan, Trump is doing us all a favour giving a heads up on the MSM narrative for the Establishment against the people . Obama and Bush were very dictatorial and hugely more fascist Than Trump. Trump is trying to head a soros orchestrated color revolution off at the pass.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Ranjan, no they are not I do not take anyone at their word I look at what they say and consider the evidence, I then consider it and think about it and lots of the time I conclude there is simply not enough evidence to make up my mind just yet. On this story, I am at that point,we will see where President Trump is going with this in due course.

Roger Lewis Ranjan, the theatre is sublime, infact Absurdist gold.

Roger Lewis On France´s upcoming vote Ranjan, we will see what happens. The same broad narratives will dominate as in this Demos report which covers. France, Spain Poland , Germany and Sweden.

https://www.demos.co.uk/…/Nothing-to-Fear-but-Fear…

Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself

There is a spectre haunting Europe: a culture and politics of fear, which asserts its growing influence in myriad ways. Most visibly, in the rise of far-right populist movements, the collapse of the social contract between citizens and political institutions, and in the proliferation of authoritarian and exclusionary rhetoric.
This pan-European project has sought to capture a snapshot of the ways in which fear is manifesting in the social and political climate of six different member states: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Poland and Sweden.

The narratives around the financial Crisis and also the Migrant/refugee crisis have been couched in terms of Global Markets, opportunity, Multiculturalism and fiscal responsibility even Climate Change. Austerity and remaining competitive in world markets is the mantra of the EU and National Politicians both Left and Right where they belong to the Danistocracy

https://letthemconfectsweeterlies.blogspot.se/…/austeri…

In a Global Economy where the System of Political Economy has not just mal functioned but seized up, we should not be surprised that many of the same issues which make up Brexit are also present in the US and France.
The Mistake many well meaning people on my side in the Left make is that Globalism and Internationalism are the same thing they are not. Internationalism is Willing Cooperation, Globalism is Authoritarian Coercion. ´´A biggly difference Sad!´´to give it some Trump spunk.

Fillon and Macron are a bit stuffy really but extreme gauche candidate is closest to le pen’s economics.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Hi Ranjan, what is so disconcerting is that Hollande (supposedly Socialist) , and who initially challenged the Austerity consensus and was punished for it has gone full blown TINA and Joined the Centrist Fascism that is Neo-Liberalism. Here in Sweden, Löven who’s is nominally Social Democratic again was punished for coming in, to the left of the Centrist Neo-Liberal Fascism of Reinfeldt and punished for it and low and behold Sweden is coerced back into the Centrist neo-liberal fascist fold.
Le Pen is not a Fascist neither is trump and neither is Nigel Farage they are Libertarian Conservatives and their Right Wing Social conservative opinions are branded as racist or Fascist. I do not agree with them politically but I call them what they are and I call Clinton and Obama and Soros what they are , they are fascists.
The degree of ignorance of Political Theory and for ideology one has to look at the back-ground theory that supports the Rhetoric of any ideological movements Spokesmen and women.

The quote isn’t originally about Obama, although every single part of the statement can be found, explicitly or indirectly, in the government’s defense in the Snowden/NSA scandal.

Replace “Obama” with “Hitler”, and you have the original. It’s from Milton Mayer’s classic They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45, and the words are those of a university colleague of the author, explaining “the ever widening gap, after 1933, between the government and the people.”

Oh well, maybe the USA isn’t a fascist state after all. We’ll see what happens with the Congress vote about Syria.

The story also runs through British Politics. Obamas a Fascist sure enough he is one that is kind to small animals and Children, unlike say Edward Heath.

Ashley Drake
Ashley Drake and, in my view Roger – and almost everyone else – you are wrong, totally wrong. You need to get out more and spend less time on websites that peddle such bollocks about 9-11, climate change, etc.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Ashley Drake Ashley, my view of fascism is not un common , although it is not one you will find in the main stream popular press. In your own echo chamber or safe space I am sure you are accustomed to not having conventional pieties challenged, that is a huge problem with social media. I get out quite enough thank you.

Ashley Drake
Ashley Drake It is uncommon – by any sane definition, Trump is closer to it than Obama – and only lurks on such conspiratorial websites that you appear to glean your information. I’ve read some of the links you drop into my threads and they are nuts. Fancy Tweeting Trump asking him to withdraw from the UN Climate Change Convention – unbelievable.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Ashley as you know I do not believe in the Anthropogenic Global Warming Hypothesis due to CO2 emissions. It is also a fact that there is not a credible body of research supporting the claim that there is a 97% scientific consensus on Climate Science. I think it would be perfectly sane to withdraw from the UN Climate Change convention what is insane is pushing the idea that State Monopoly Capitalist societies with a debt based money system are even remotely interested or capable of using resources sustainably.

Ashley Drake
Ashley Drake I wouldn’t call being in a pro-Welsh independence, pro-Welsh language, anti-nuclear, anti-Brexit position being in a mainstream bubble. Many over here would consider that to be the position of a nutter. Also, I’ve held these views all my adult life, rather than discovering them over recent years due to a change in personal circumstances, before which I didn’t show any interest in them and actually profited very nicely within that system. Take a step back and try to see that the world is far from ideal, agreed, but it’s not being run by some Illuminati-type conspiracy.

Roger Lewis
Roger Lewis Harri, if you accept the main stream position on Climate Beliefs I grant that at first blush it might seem a little eccentric. If you look at the John Cook papers on the 97% consensus , you will find them of the same John Cooks Skeptical Science blog aSee More

Marc Bright
Marc Bright I do detest how those who think they’ve discovered something the rest of us can’t/won’t see, constantly use the term “mainstream” as if it’s obviously what the simple/idiots among us pick up because it’s so easy – this always seems to be the implication.

If only we weren’t sheeple then we could be well informed, clever people like those who dig behind the facts, avoid the “mainstream”, etc.

It all seems so self aggrandising to me. There is an intellectual sneer at “the mainstream” as if it can only ever be dumb. Those with true awareness can see through this mainstream sham, etc. The same people ask the rest of us to “have an open mind” (implication, ours are currently closed), etc. We need to “go deep” (implication, we’re too lazy do it). It’s all a constant stream of telling us we’re just not aware of what’s going on – and telling us this seems more important than the actual tale.
